How safe am I? What can I do about people speeding through my neighborhood? Is driving 5 mph over the speed limit really that big of a deal?

If you’ve ever had questions like those and wanted answers, the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office invites you to grab a cup o’ joe and bring your concerns to its “Coffee with a Cop” event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Da Kind Soups in Evergreen.

“It’s perfect for the person that has thought ‘I’ve always wanted to ask about this,’ or ‘I’m concerned about something in this area,’” said Mark Techmeyer, Jeffco Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. “We don’t come with an agenda or anything to present or talk about. It’s an opportunity for people to talk to our staff about concerns they may have.”

The Coffee with a Cop series has been successful since it started nearly two years ago, Techmeyer said. The community meetings are designed to be casual and a wide array of topics are usually brought up.

“If we get the opportunity to sit and talk to even one citizen about what’s concerning them, we’ve been successful,” Techmeyer said.
