The Jefferson County planning commission voted 7-0 on April 27 against giving an Evergreen couple permission to turn a five-bedroom house at 4477 Independence Trail into a short-term vacation rental.
The proposal is scheduled to go to the Board of County Commissioners, which makes the final decision, on May 17. The planning commission is empowered only to make recommendations.
During the public hearing, nine people made statements against short-term rentals, and one person, other than the applicants, spoke in favor of them.
