The annual Holiday Walk sponsored by Downtown Evergreen begins at 5 p.m. Friday with a tree-lighting at Evergreen Lake.

After the tree is illuminated, Santa and Mrs. Claus will walk to the downtown area with other folks attending the celebration.

Highway 74 will be closed from the intersection of Highway 73 to Meadow Drive during the event.

The Holiday Walk will feature music by several groups including the Evergreen Children’s Chorale, Conifer High School jazz band, the Open Space Band and the Colorado Academy Choir. The Kinetic Arts Dance Studio and the Anam Dance Troupe will also perform.

Youngsters will have a chance to see two live reindeer in an area by the Century Link building.

Those who would like to have photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus can head to the Muddy Buck at 6:45 p.m., where Wendy Scott Photography will offer portraits for $10 each.

A popcorn vendor will be at Evergreen Mountain Village along with American Legion members who will be selling hot dogs. Musician Josh Kinney will perform at the site.

For the convenience of those attending the event, shuttles will be available at the Church of the Hills, the Lake House, Christ the King Catholic Church, Hiwan Homestead, Mountain Home and Church of the Transfiguration, along with the downtown trolley.

This year’s event will be brighter, with additional holiday lighting in the downtown area, said Tricia Wales, Downtown Evergreen president.
