Runners at the 31st annual Evergreen Town Race were treated to ideal weather conditions Aug. 2, and as a result, posted some lightning-quick times.
Joel Hamilton, 24, of Golden took home the 5K title, crossing the finish line in 14 minutes, 33 seconds. Adam Rich of Colorado Springs was second, finishing in an even 15 minutes. Andy Giravly was the top Evergreen finisher, placing 15th with a time of 17:12.
Cassie Slade of Highlands Ranch was the first female finisher in the 5K. Slade, 26, finished with a time of 16:37. Littleton’s Paige Higgins was second, finishing the course in 17:15.
Karen Opp of Bailey was fifth with a time of 19:28 and Evergreen’s Christine Adamowski, Tayler Warren and Maura O’Brien finished 8th through 10th, respectively. Adamowski’s time was 19:31, Warren 19:49 and O’Brien 19:57.
In the 10K, Peter Vail of Boulder took the top spot. Vail’s pace of 5:06 netted him a total time of 31:35, 24 seconds faster than Lakewood’s Ewen North.
Evergreen’s Ryan Haebe was fourth with a time of 33:53.
Jennifer Valentine of Boulder was the top female 10K finisher, crossing the line in 38:24. Evergreen’s Stephanie Seybold was third at 40:38 while Bryn Haebe was fourth at 41:16.
In all, 955 competitors took part in the races.
