Golub, Cougars overpower rival Conifer for Jeffco League win

CONIFER — Skylar Budd’s game was fairly consistent. But as his match with Evergreen’s Matt Golub went along the Cougars’ No. 1 singles player’s confidence grew. Golub started hitting more ground strokes into the corner. He started taking more chances. And he was getting a lot of winners because of that.
It all added up to a 6-0, 6-1 win for Golub in Evergreen’s eventual 6-1 team victory Sept. 13 at Conifer High School’s tennis courts.
