Famous feminist and editor of Ms. Magazine Gloria Steinem will speak from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the Evergreen Lake House.
The appearance is one of 11 engagements Steinem has scheduled for the Denver area before the election. Steinem will be hosting “public discussions with undecided women voters” about election issues and how they affect their daily lives, according to a news release.
She is not coming ostensibly to promote Barack Obama’s campaign, although it is no secret that Obama is her preferred candidate, said spokeswoman Stephanie Clarke of Superior. There is no sponsoring organization, and Steinem is coming under her own auspices, Clarke said.
The event is free and open to the public. Advance tickets or reservations are not available, although free tickets will be distributed at the parking lot immediately prior. Parking is limited, and carpooling is encouraged.
