State Rep. Cheri Gerou of Evergreen has been named to the legislature’s powerful Joint Budget Committee.
As a member of the JBC, Gerou will play a key role in shaping Colorado’s budget and setting future priorities for state spending.
“I am honored to have been selected for such a key committee position going into the next legislative session,” said Gerou, a Republican. “With the current economy, the state budget will continue to be a challenging endeavor. I believe that we must maximize taxpayer dollars wherever possible while respecting the small business owners and Colorado families who make up the backbone of our economy.”
Gerou will replace Rep. Kent Lambert, R-Colorado Springs, on the committee. Gerou says she’s proud to take her seat on the JBC, as former House District 25 representatives John Witwer and Tony Grampsas also served on the panel.
“It is great to know that I am following in the footsteps of two of Jefferson County’s respected leaders,” Gerou said.
An architect, Gerou has earned a reputation at the statehouse for standing up for taxpayers while serving on the House Finance Committee.
