The community is invited to the May 9 meeting of the Rotary Club of Evergreen, when former governor Richard Lamm will be the guest speaker. Lamm will speak from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Country Day School.
Lamm was elected to three terms as governor, serving from 1975 to 1987. He was the longest-serving governor in the history of Colorado to that date.
During his tenure, Lamm drafted and won approval for the nation’s first liberalized abortion law. He was an early leader in the environmental movement and was president of the First National Conference on Population and the Environment.
Lamm currently serves as co-director of the Institute for Public Policy Studies at the University of Denver.
“Governor Lamm is a very interesting speaker, and we are privileged to have him speak to our community,” said Rotary Club member Don Unger.
The school is on Swede Gulch Road near Home Depot.
