Firefighters extinguish grass fire near rodeo grounds

Evergreen firefighters extinguished a small grass fire blazing near the El Pinal Rodeo Grounds on Monday morning.

No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

Evergreen Fire/Rescue received the call at 10 a.m, and firefighters were on the scene several minutes later, said EFR spokesperson Stacee Montague.

The size of the fire at Stagecoach and Buckhorn roads had doubled to a 400-square-foot area when firefighters arrived. By 10:15 a.m., the fire was declared out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Montague said.
