Fire district eyes a thrifty makeover for aging stations 1 and 4

The Evergreen fire district is looking at ways to improve the appearance of fire stations 1 and 4, which are in basically good shape but are beginning to show their age.

Station 1 at 4751 Highway 73 is closest to the downtown business district, south of Evergreen Dam.

Formerly the administrative headquarters, No. 1 was vacated when the new building at 1802 Bergen Parkway was built about four years ago. Today, Station 1 is mainly used as a garage, housing seven types of fire vehicles.
