The 31st annual Evergreen Town Race, slated for Aug. 2, features a 5K walk, 5K run and 10K run. The courses wind gradually down Upper Bear Creek Road, and the finish is at the Lake House. The theme of this year’s race is “Finishing is Winning.”
It is one of the most scenic races in Colorado, and the fastest 5K time ever recorded in the state was on this course.
The race is organized by the Evergreen-based nonprofit Colorado Road Runners, and all proceeds benefit the Alpine Rescue Team. The Alpine Rescue Team is made up of volunteers who serve Jefferson and Clear Creek counties, responding to approximately 100 rescue calls annually and helping hundreds of individuals.
The team, celebrating its 50th year of responding to wilderness emergencies, performs rescues at no cost to those it helps, and it counts on donations to fund its efforts.
Participants can sign up by filling out an application at Evergreen National Bank in downtown Evergreen, Boulder Running Company in Littleton, Runner’s Roost stores, and Running Wild in Highlands Ranch. Runners can also download an application at www.evergreentownrace.org, sign up online at www.active.com, or sign up at the race.
For additional registration information, contact Darin Eisman at 303 642-7917. If you would like to support this effort in other ways, including being a volunteer or sponsor, or if you have any questions, call 303-674-0800.
All race finishers will receive an Evergreen Town Race T-shirt, and at the end of the race there will be live music, an informal brunch, awards and prizes.
