Evergreen slips by Green Mountain in home dual

Thad Yeatts pinfall of Green Mountain’s Noah Malik in 4 minutes, 17 seconds at 160 pounds sealed a 28-27 come-from-behind win for host Evergreen on Jan. 16.
Other winners for the Cougars were Lane Hanson (106), Jake Kay (126), Kaleb Masco (132), and Nate Hediger (170). Hanson won by major decision, Kay by pinfall and Masco and Hediger via forfeit.
“It was a mixed bag of results for me. A couple of the kids came through for us,” Evergreen head coach Lane Williams said. “Jake gave his usual effort and Lane  won with a strong effort. Thad Yeatts came through with a good win to help seal the victory.”

Kay places 2nd at Chadron
CHADRON, Neb. — Evergreen 126-pounder Jake Kay took second place at the Chadron Wrestling Invitational on Jan. 19.
Kay went 4-1 in the tournament, reaching the finals. He dropped an 8-4 decision to Cheyenne East’s Brody Cress. Kay, who is 23-4 on the season, won three of his matches via decision.
