The Evergreen Lady Cougars were defeated by host and top-seeded Broomfield 61-29 in the second round of the 4A state girls basketball tournament March 1.
“Broomfield is tough. They have been No.1 all year in state, and we have already played them once and lost by 40,” Evergreen head coach Amy Mohr said after the Lady Cougars advanced to play Broomfield with a 39-34 home victory in the first round over Discovery Canyon on Feb. 26.
Rife with fouls and free throws the Lady Cougars topped Discovery Canyon thanks to 17-of-21 shooting from the free-throw line.
