LAKEWOOD — The Evergreen girls soccer game against Jefferson on March 20 got cut short by 20 minutes.
No, the lights didn’t go out and no, the weather didn’t force the game to be called.
It was Evergreen’s massive goal scoring that put an end to the game with 20 minutes and 28 seconds remaining on the clock.
The Cougars scored 10 goals against Jefferson, forcing the game to an end via the 10-goal mercy rule. Most fans hadn’t even heard of that rule since many soccer teams don’t score 10 goals in a single game.
