Evergreen boys, girls rule Jeffco, capture league titles

LAKEWOOD — Evergreen High School won both the girls and boys 4A Jeffco League track and field championships on May 12 at Jefferson County Stadium.
The girls won with a league-best 222 points, topping D’Evelyn for the 4A honors. The Lady Jaguars finished with 199 points. Lakewood was the top 5A school with 175.5.
The EHS boys scored 193 points, just topping 5A Chatfield, which finished with 188.5. D’Evelyn was second among 4A schools with 159.
Winners for the girls team included Caitlin Schmitt (1,600, 5 minutes, 17.11 seconds), Sam Skold (3,200, 11:56.82) and the 4x100 (51.40 seconds), 4x200 (1:46.98) and 4x800 relay teams (9:49.73).
Boys winners included Cody Klippert (high jump, 6 feet, 2 inches), Andre Lane (long jump, 23-1) and the 4x200 relay team (1:30.62).
The 4A state meet is May 16-18 at Lakewood’s Jeffco Stadium.
