The Dec. 4 arraignment of an Evergreen man accused of vehicular assault and DUI in connection with a car-bicycle accident last summer has been continued until Jan. 7.

Jeffrey Scott Detlefs, 57, was arrested Aug. 16 after his vehicle collided with a bicyclist on the approach to eastbound I-70 at the Evergreen exit. The State Patrol report said Detlef’s Lexus drove over the white line on the shoulder and collided with the bicycle rider.

Detlefs is also accused of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury and child abuse, among other things. His three children were with him at the time of the crash.

Detlefs appeared with his attorney, David Miller, and met with Judge Jane Tidball in chamber, according to court records.

Detlefs has been free on $60,000 bond since the accident.
