Court rejects commission's plan for redrawing lines of state House, Senate districts

-A A +A
By Vicky Gits

The state Supreme Court on Nov. 15 voted 4-2 to reject the proposed new boundaries of state House and Senate districts and send the maps back to the state Reapportionment Commission because too many counties were split up.

Under the plan, the shapes of both House District 25 and Senate District 16 would be drastically different and foster the element of "competitiveness" over other factors.

Every 10 years the legislature redraws the state's political district boundaries to reflect population shifts over the last decade.
