Brooke Kish had already put in her daily run when she jumped into her car and drove the Freedom Run 5k course July 3. It was much easier that way, the 36-year-old Evergreen resident said.
It also served as a good crash course for what to expect the next day in her first time running the 31st annual event. Turns out it suited her just fine as evident of her winning time of 18 minutes even, placing first in the female portion of the race. She was eighth overall. Kish tied the event record for females, set by Noreen Shea in 1999.
