GOLDEN — Chase Kelly never knew otherwise if he was to hold the ball out for a potential last-second shot or not. All he saw was an opportunity and he took it.
“I don’t know. I didn’t hear coach say one shot or anything,” Kelly said. “I was wide open. I felt like it was the best shot we would get on the possession. I took it and it ended up good.”
His baseline jumper with 25.5 seconds left turned out to be the game-winning basket in Evergreen’s 55-53 road victory over Golden on Feb. 14, but just barely.
