A Lookout Mountain church with a congregation of about 300 has downsized its controversial expansion plans from a maximum of 46,000 square feet gross floor area to 30,000 square feet.
But the church continues to face vehement opposition from the surrounding neighborhood and its umbrella homeowner association, Canyon Area Residents for the Environment. CARE objects to a 660-person meeting hall, the impact on Sunday traffic, noise, and possible effects on fire safety and ambulance rescue.
