Jeffco parents who wish to enroll a child in a district school other than their neighborhood school can take advantage of the choice enrollment process next month.
The first period of enrollment begins Jan. 8 and closes Jan. 24. A second enrollment period is offered from Feb. 19 to Aug. 30.
“The second period is offered for parents who missed the first round or maybe just moved into the county,” said Melissa Reeves, spokeswoman for Jeffco Public Schools.
Applications can be accessed at www.jeffcopublicschools.org/enrollment and will be considered for the 2014-15 school year. First-round applicants have priority, and students will be accepted on a space-available basis.
“We recommend parents calling a school and asking questions and finding out about a particular school,” Reeves said, adding that many times parents just look at test scores to make a final decision. “Specific questions about a school can generally be answered by calling that school’s administrative office.”
Any student in Colorado may enroll in any Jeffco school that has open classroom space, Reeves said.
