In recent years, television commercials have bragged that “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” The Evergreen Players have brought their own version of Las Vegas to our mountain community for New Year’s Eve. The Players are sponsoring a rip-roaring shindig complete with gambling, dining and cabaret entertainment. This “Shake, Rattle and Roll” night should be a powerhouse party that will leave revelers saying, “What happens at Center/Stage stays at Center/Stage.”
The evening will start at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Partygoers will be greeted with scrumptious appetizers and a Vegas-style gambling floor complete with blackjack, craps and roulette. Every ticket buyer will receive $10 worth of gambling chips, and dealers will even offer lessons to players who don’t know the rules or etiquette of gambling. Revelers can enjoy a free glass of wine or beer or the famous “Playertini,” the Players’ special martini created for this event.
Attendees can cash in their chips to participate in a “Chinese Auction.” Chips are exchanged for raffle tickets, which may be used to bid on Broncos tickets, original art wear, theater tickets and much more. After bidding on their favorite goodies, attendees will enjoy a full buffet dinner catered by Evergreen’s Tin Star Catering.
Center/Stage will be packed with full hearts and full stomachs when the dancing and desserts begin. A table packed with sweet treats and cheeses will tempt the masses, and the dance floor will be thumping with music to be enjoyed by all ages.
The highlight of the evening will be an authentic cabaret performance by Naughty Pierre and the cast of burlesque dancers and Vaudeville variety acts from Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret in Denver. The hour-long show includes comedians, torch-song singers, a puppet show, belly dancers and old-fashioned burlesque from the 1920s and ‘30s. The show is described as a tongue-in-cheek, sassy night of entertainment. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the Moulin Rouge when actors such as the Sweetheart of Burlesque, Honey Touche, and the Vivacious Fannie Spankings take the stage.
The night will wind up with a champagne toast to officially ring in 2010. Tickets are going fast to this annual New Year’s bash. Order yours by visiting www.EvergreenPlayers.org or calling 303-674-4934.
