By Michael Hicks

Head coach: Scott Haebe
Assistant coaches: Jordan Diegman, Tom Warren, Adam Dodge
Conference: 4A Jeffco
2012-13 record: 17-8
2012-13 recap: Evergreen went 11-3 to finish in second place in the 4A Jeffco League behind D’Evelyn. “Last year, I thought, was a really good season. Unfortunately, we ran into Lewis-Palmer in the Round of 16,” Haebe said. The Cougars reached the third round of the 4A state tournament before losing to the eventual state champions.
Players to watch for: Jack Curtis, Sr., 6-2, G; Lucas Weidner, Sr., 6-2, G; Matt Hornbecker, Sr., 6-2, G/F; Brendan Desotell, Sr., 5-11, G; Nathan Haas, Jr., 6-1, PG
Key losses: Andre Lane, Chase Kelly, Colin Elmgreen, Joe Thavis, Tal Arnold
Outlook: Evergreen graduated four of its top five scorers from a season ago, including Lane, who averaged 17.3 points per contest. The Cougars’ five graduated seniors also led the team in rebounding. So this year, EHS will turn to point guard Nathan Haas to control the flow on the floor and all-around athlete Jack Curtis to carry the load. Evergreen will use a grueling early-season schedule to develop some chemistry before heading into league play.
