Bootstraps Inc. is hosting its fourth annual Western Winefest at the El Pinal Rodeo Grounds in Evergreen on Saturday from noon until 5 p.m.

The event is a major fund-raiser for the nonprofit organization, which offers scholarships to area college students.

Twenty wineries, including Creekside Cellars of Evergreen and Aspen Park Cellars of Conifer, will offer samples of their wines. Food and other vendors selling wine-related products will also be available.

In addition to free tastings from Colorado wineries, the admission price includes a tasting glass, live entertainment, and demonstrations by local chefs and wine experts. Food, wine by the glass, and wine by the bottle will be available for purchase. Those purchasing bottles of wine will receive a complimentary wine tote.

Among live entertainment that will be featured is the Evergreen group BooDaddy, which will perform a mix of popular tunes from the 1970s to the 1990s.

During the event, demonstrations will take place. Wine expert C.S. Vin will discuss his knowledge of Colorado wines during a presentation at 1 p.m. at the festival.

At 2 p.m. chef Michael Couglin will offer advice on food and wine pairing.

At 3 p.m. author Paula Mitchell will talk about various Colorado wineries she has visited, which she has showcased in her book “Exploring Colorado Wineries.”

Tickets are available for purchase for $40 online before the event. They will cost $45 the day of the wine festival.

“All this helps us send mountain area students on to higher education,” said Colleen Skates, executive director of Bootstraps Inc.

In 2013, Bootstraps awarded scholarships to 88 students and raised more than $200,000, Skates said.

Since the organization started in 1947, approximately $1.8 million has been raised, she noted.

To help with the annual wine festival, the organization has assistance from many local sponsors, including the two premier ones for this year’s event, Evergreen Fine Art and Kids to College Pediatric, Skates said.
